What you say is what you get

LET’S GET PERSONAL: WHAT YOU SAY IS WHAT YOU GET.
The power of language in our life in largely underestimated. We pay very little attention to our use of words and how we construct our sentences.
Often this is described as semantics or being unimportant, the reality is very different.
In a similar way to which we would look out and describe the weather “oh look what a lovely day” we believe we look at ourselves and describe what is going on.
We indulge ourselves in dialogue that does not serve us and does not get us what we want.

For example “I feel tired “I’m frustrated with you” “I can’t be bothered” “that’s boring”

THE NEGATIVE STATEMENT IS NOT SO MUCH A DESCRIPTION OF AN INNER STATE BUT MORE A CREATOR OF AN INNER STATE.

Unlike the weather (if it’s raining and you say it’s sunny you will still get wet if you go out) what you say about it won’t change it, although it may make you feel happier!! when you change your description of how you feel, if you do it often enough and with enough conviction it will change how you feel.
Think of it like speaking what you’re committed to having then begin to eliminate any external or internal conversations that are not in line with your commitments.

Recently I wanted to experience having more energy so I cut out any conversations that were not in line with that commitment. And I have miraculously began to feel less lethargic, I have been more upbeat playing with the kids generally I have had more energy.

There is another way to consider it as well slightly different but equally as powerful. Instead of saying “I am bored, I am tired, I am frustrated” change it to “I am doing tired, I am doing boredom, I am doing frustration.”
These statements are actually a more accurate description of what is happening and they have you take responsibility for what is happening versus your circumstances being responsible.

SO GIVE IT A GO IN YOUR LIFE, PICK SOMETHING SIMPLE AND CHANGE YOUR LANGUAGE AROUND IT. YOU WILL EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF LANGUAGE FOR YOURSELF.
